Pioneer PRO DJ LINK Not Detected
Diagnose why CueSync can't see your CDJs or DJM over PRO DJ LINK — network, firewall, and device-compatibility checks.
Supported Hardware
CueSync speaks PRO DJ LINK to:
- CDJ-3000, CDJ-2000NXS2, CDJ-2000NXS, CDJ-TOUR1
- DJM-V10, DJM-A9, DJM-900NXS2
- XDJ-XZ, XDJ-1000MK2
Older gear (CDJ-2000, DJM-2000) may partially work but is not officially supported.
Network Setup
CueSync acts as a virtual CDJ on the same LAN as your rig. That means:
- Your Mac and your CDJs / DJM must be on the same subnet (typically 169.254.x.x for direct ethernet, or whatever your router assigns via DHCP).
- Plug your Mac directly into the DJM's LINK port, or through a gigabit network switch that also connects the CDJs.
- Do not use Wi-Fi for the Mac — PRO DJ LINK requires wired ethernet for timing accuracy.
Common Failures
"No devices detected" on the CueSync PRO DJ LINK screen
- Confirm the DJM shows LINK status on its front panel (green LED).
- Each CDJ should display a player number (1–4) on its screen. If any shows "—" or "LINK" without a number, cycle its power.
- Back in CueSync, open Diagnostics (Cmd+D) → PRO DJ LINK panel. The packet count should tick upward within 10 seconds of connection. If it stays at zero, the Mac isn't seeing the broadcast.
Packets arriving but beats don't register
Usually a subnet mismatch. Open System Settings → Network → the relevant adapter → Details → TCP/IP. Confirm the IPv4 address matches the 169.254.x.x range (or matches what your switch assigns). If your Mac is on a different subnet, CueSync receives the broadcasts but can't reply, so the handshake never completes.
Only one CDJ shows up
Some older firmware versions don't broadcast on the full link protocol. Update the CDJ to the latest firmware via Pioneer DJ's website. After the update, power-cycle the unit.
macOS firewall blocks incoming packets
System Settings → Network → Firewall → Firewall Options → confirm CueSync is listed and set to Allow incoming connections. If not, add it manually or turn the firewall off for the rig's local network.
Verifying Audio Separately
If PRO DJ LINK won't work no matter what, you can fall back to direct-audio analysis:
- Route a USB audio feed from the DJM's booth output into your Mac.
- In CueSync, switch the audio source from PRO DJ LINK to CoreAudio: [your interface].
- You lose phrase-accuracy (no PSSI data, no hot-cue metadata) but beat / BPM / energy triggers still work with ~15ms latency.
Still Stuck?
Contact support with:
- A screenshot of the Diagnostics → PRO DJ LINK panel.
- Your exact Pioneer hardware model numbers and firmware versions.
- Whether the rig works standalone (e.g., Master Tempo syncs between CDJs) without CueSync involved.
