Audio Input Not Detected
Fix audio input issues in CueSync — microphone access, audio interface setup, and system audio loopback.
Check macOS Microphone Permission
CueSync requires microphone access to analyze audio. If the permission was denied at first launch:
- Open System Settings → Privacy & Security → Microphone.
- Ensure CueSync is in the list and the toggle is on.
- Restart CueSync after granting permission.
Selecting the Correct Input Device
- Open CueSync → Settings → Audio Input.
- From the Input Device dropdown, select your audio interface, microphone, or loopback device.
- Confirm the Level Meter shows movement when audio is playing.
If your interface is not in the list:
- Confirm it is connected and recognized by macOS (check System Settings → Sound → Input)
- Try unplugging and replugging the USB/Thunderbolt connection
- For aggregate devices, build the aggregate in Audio MIDI Setup (Applications → Utilities)
Common Fixes
| Symptom | Fix | |---------|-----| | No devices in dropdown | Grant microphone permission; restart CueSync | | Interface listed but no signal | Check cable/input gain on hardware; confirm the correct input channel | | Level meter moves but AutoPilot doesn't respond | Input level too low — increase gain in Settings → Audio Input | | Works then stops randomly | Disable macOS "automatic sample rate switching" for the device in Audio MIDI Setup |
System Audio Loopback (DJ / Live Setup)
For DJ setups where audio plays through speakers (not a microphone), use a loopback to send the DJ software's output to CueSync:
- BlackHole (free) — virtual audio driver; route DJ software output to BlackHole, then select BlackHole in CueSync
- Loopback (paid) — full virtual routing with a graphical interface
After installing:
- Set your DJ software's output to the virtual loopback device.
- In CueSync → Settings → Audio Input, select the loopback device.
- The level meter should show your DJ software's audio.
Still No Audio?
Restart the CoreAudio daemon without rebooting your Mac:
sudo killall coreaudiod
Then reopen CueSync. This resolves most persistent audio device issues on macOS.
