Built for stage managers, LDs, and TDs
Reclaim the rehearsal hours manual cue calling steals.
CueSync Theatre Edition pairs an unlimited CueStack with a Timeline evaluator, frame-accurate timecode across four protocols, a Show Editor with automatic rotating backups, and a Mission Control HUD that keeps every connection visible at a glance. Sits alongside your existing rig — no console replacement, no scripting required.
The Theatre Edition workflow
Six capabilities that turn manual cue programming into a once-and-done authoring pass. Every cue still calls when you tell it to — the difference is what stops being your job.
CueStack with unlimited cues
Author every cue your show needs — no per-list cap, no truncation at scale. Follow-on timing, nested sequences, and conditional branching for shows that don't run the same way twice.
Timeline automation
Drag cues onto a time axis and let CueSync execute them frame-accurately. The Timeline editor sits next to your CueStack — automate what's automatable, hand-call the rest.
Frame-accurate SMPTE
MTC, LTC, Art-Net timecode, and TCNet — generate or chase from any source. Lock every lighting, sound, and video cue to the same frame so a 200-cue show feels like one operator pressing one button.
Show Editor + Run Mode
Two distinct environments — design in the editor, execute in run mode. Rehearsal never leaks into showtime, and the same show file moves cleanly from dry to tech to dress.
Mission Control HUD
Single-screen heads-up display showing the active cue, the next cue, current timecode, and the health of every protocol connection. Your operator never has to alt-tab during a show.
Pre-show review
A per-track readiness review before the curtain — ready / tested / drafted counts across every cue list and a headline ready percentage. Unfinished cues surface before the house opens, not as silent runtime failures.
Theatre ROI calculator
Estimate what Theatre Edition saves your season
Conservative model: roughly 40% of rehearsal hours spent on cue programming are reclaimed when Timeline + Timecode evaluation handles the GO calls, plus a quarter-hour per show in show-night attention. Move the sliders to match your reality.
45$/hr
Loaded cost — operator wage plus payroll tax & overhead.
24shows
Performances per season. Touring + residency + corporate combined.
12hrs
Tech + dress + pickup time spent on cue programming and refinement.
Your estimated season
Hours saved per show
5.1 h
Annual hours saved
121 h
Annual labor saved
$5,454
Theatre Edition is $199 / year. On your season, that pays for itself in 1 show, leaving a net benefit of $5,255 in reclaimed labor.
Estimate only. Real savings depend on production scale, operator efficiency, and show complexity. Theatre Edition does not replace your stage manager or lighting designer — it reclaims the hours they spend manually programming and pickup-noting cue lists that a Timeline + Timecode evaluator can handle deterministically.
CueSync Theatre vs manual cue calling
Honest about where automation wins and where it doesn't.
With CueSync Theatre
Manual cue calling
Cue programming
CueSync — Author once, evaluate live against the show clock
Without — Re-author or re-time after every script revision
Cue calling
CueSync — Timeline auto-GO with operator override
Without — Every cue called by hand
Pickup & dress notes
CueSync — Edit cue in Show Editor, save, snapshot in history
Without — Re-write paper cue sheet, re-print, redistribute
Timecode lock
CueSync — Frame-accurate MTC / LTC / ArtNet / TCNet
Without — External LTC generator + manual sync
Console replacement
CueSync — Sits alongside your existing console — no replacement
Without — Console operator still required for live overrides
First-night setup
CueSync — Build the venue profile once during load-in (auto-recognized on every return); the pre-show review surfaces unfinished cues before curtain
Without — Walk the rig, hand-check every output, hope nothing changed
Theatre operator questions
Does CueSync replace my lighting console or my stage manager?
No. CueSync sits alongside your existing console — GrandMA2, GrandMA3, ETC Eos, ChamSys MagicQ, Avolites — and reclaims the time your stage manager and lighting designer spend on manual cue programming, pickup notes, and frame-by-frame timecode lock. Your console operator still runs the show; CueSync just removes the boring half of their job.
Will my touring show files move between venues?
Yes. Venue profiles capture each rig as a fingerprint of devices (protocol + port + device name; IP intentionally excluded so DHCP changes between cities don't break recognition). When CueSync joins a new network it auto-recognizes the matching profile if you've been there before, and falls back to the manual setup wizard if you haven't. Show files reference profiles by ID, so the same cue list runs against whichever rig is wired up.
What if the timecode source drops mid-show?
Every protocol connection — including timecode — is wrapped in an auto-reconnect layer with a circuit breaker. If MTC drops, CueSync keeps trying, surfaces the disconnect in Mission Control HUD, and resumes the moment the signal returns. Held cues don't strand fixtures: the safety-timeout layer returns to the resting state automatically. See the reliability page for the full live-show reliability story.
Does CueSync emit MIDI Show Control?
Yes. MSC SysEx is one of CueSync's protocol outputs alongside MIDI, OSC, TCP, and UDP. The MSC layer routes by configurable device ID with identity filtering — misconfigured IDs become operator-visible warnings rather than silent drops at runtime.
