CueSync for QLab users: the DJ side of the show
CueSync fires QLab cues over OSC and handles the live, beat-driven part of a show: it reads Pioneer decks or your own files and fires cues when the music gets there. It leaves the audio and video in QLab and decides when. This page is about CueSync only.

Fire QLab from a cue
A Theatre cue, a Cue Pad, a Look or the panic can GO a QLab cue by number, start or stop it, move the playhead, or change a cue's level, rate, opacity, pre-wait and duration, over OSC on TCP or UDP. It has been run against QLab 5 on both transports; QLab 4 has not been checked.

The cue list into QLab
Send Cue List to QLab creates a QLab cue for each cue of a Part, with its number, name and notes, so the sound department does not retype the list. The cues arrive as placeholders with no audio, it never deletes or changes a cue that is already there, and it is refused while a show is live.

The beat from the decks
CueSync joins your PRO DJ LINK network as another player and reads the position, BPM, phase and tempo master your CDJs already share, so the tempo comes from the decks, with no DJ software in the chain. If the beats go quiet while a deck is playing, it says so instead of firing nothing. Of the Pioneer units, only the CDJ-3000 has been through a hardware session.

Your own files, analysed on your Mac
Local Audio plays your audio files, and CueSync works out the beat grid, phrases, energy, key and loudness on your own machine, with nothing uploaded. Track Prep analyses a whole library in one run and can turn the analysis into suggested cues for you to review.

Cues that wait for the music
A cue can wait for a phrase change, an energy band, a fill or the DJ's hot cue press, and fire when the track gets there. Cues are checked in order, so the cue you expect next goes at the top of the stack. On your own files these cues use CueSync's analysis; on a Pioneer deck, phrase cues read the phrase map rekordbox wrote to the stick, which has not yet been checked on a CDJ-3000.

Calling the show
Run Mode shows the cue you are calling, its countdown, the running order behind it and timecode health on one operator screen. Each cue fires on timecode, on GO, as a Follow or as an Autocontinue, and DRY steps the running order through with nothing sent to the desk, the media server or the rig, CueSync's own timecode outputs included.

Before you decide
What you need
- A Mac with Apple Silicon and macOS 12 or later. CueSync does not run on an Intel Mac, and there is no Windows build.
- Production for a show with both a Theatre cue list and a DJ set; DJ or Theatre on their own.
- QLab 5, with OSC access for CueSync switched on in the workspace's network settings.
- An account. Without a subscription you can run the demo show and tour the app in read-only mode. Building and saving your own shows, and connecting real outputs, need a subscription.
When CueSync is not the right fit
- You run QLab 4. CueSync has been checked against QLab 5 only.
- You need a cue to target one particular QLab cue list. CueSync does not yet address a single QLab cue list from a cue.
- You want CueSync to play the show's sound design itself. CueSync fires QLab's cues and leaves the audio and video in QLab.
- Your Mac has an Intel processor. CueSync needs Apple Silicon and macOS 12 or later, and it does not run on an Intel Mac.
