Managing Devices
Understand your device limit, view active devices, and transfer your activation to a new Mac.
Device Limit
Each CueSync subscription allows 1 active device — the Mac where CueSync is installed and your license key is activated. Your device is identified by a hardware fingerprint generated at activation.
Viewing Your Active Device
- Log in to your account dashboard.
- Scroll to the Devices card.
- You'll see your active device's name, OS version, and last-seen timestamp.
Transferring to a New Mac
To activate CueSync on a different computer:
- Deactivate the current device — either from the dashboard (Devices card → Deactivate) or from the old Mac (CueSync → Preferences → License → Deactivate).
- Install CueSync on the new Mac (Download page).
- Enter your license key and activate.
Deactivation is instant. You do not need access to the old Mac — you can deactivate remotely from the dashboard at any time.
Auto-Deactivation
CueSync's licensing server tracks the last validation timestamp for each device. If a device hasn't validated for 90 days, it is automatically marked as inactive and the slot is freed. This prevents permanently blocked activations from lost or destroyed hardware.
Lost or Stolen Mac
If your Mac is lost or stolen and you cannot deactivate it normally:
- Log in to your account dashboard.
- In the Devices card, click Force Deactivate next to the device.
- The hardware fingerprint is revoked immediately — CueSync on that machine will return to read-only mode within 15 minutes.
