Updating CueSync

How Updates Work

CueSync updates itself silently in the background:

1. On launch — the app checks for a new version, and re-checks every 4 hours while running.
2. Background download — with Download in background enabled (Settings → Updates), a found update downloads while you work. Nothing is installed without your action.
3. You choose when — installing always happens on an explicit Restart / Download and Restart click. CueSync never restarts itself, so an update can never interrupt a show.

Routine updates surface only in Settings → Updates; important ones also show an in-app banner. Every download is integrity-verified before it's installed.

Checking Manually

Open Settings → Updates and click Check for Updates. The panel shows your current version, the latest available, and download progress. Compare against the changelog to see what's new.

When an Update Fails

If a check or download keeps failing (the app retries on its own — after roughly 1, 5, and 15 minutes — before giving up):

1. Check the network — the updater talks to api.cuesync.live over HTTPS. Corporate/venue networks with TLS interception commonly break this; try another network or a hotspot.
2. Install manually — download the current .dmg from the Download page, open it, and drag CueSync into Applications over the old copy. Your license, settings, and shows all live in ~/.cuesync and your project files — a reinstall never touches them.
3. Very old builds — a build that's many versions behind may not be able to self-update across a code-signing rotation. The manual reinstall above fixes it once, and auto-update works again from then on.
