Updating CueSync

How Updates Work

CueSync checks for updates by itself and can download them quietly in the background:

1. On launch — with Auto-check for updates on (the default), the app checks for a new version, and keeps re-checking while it runs.
2. Background download — with Auto-download updates on (Settings → Updates, also the default), a found update downloads while you work.
3. You choose when — an ordinary update installs only when you click Restart to Update. CueSync holds an install back while it can see a show running (a deck playing, Auto Pilot armed or running, or a show playing) and offers it again once the show has ended. A rare critical fix is the exception: it installs by itself once CueSync sees that no show is running.

Routine updates surface only in Settings → Updates; important ones also show an in-app banner. Every download is integrity-verified before it's installed.

Checking Manually

Open Settings → Updates and click Check Now. The Version Info card shows your current version, when CueSync last checked and the status; when an update is on offer it lists the version, its size and the What's New notes, with progress while it downloads.

When an Update Fails

If a check or download keeps failing (the app retries on its own before giving up):

1. Check the network — the updater talks to api.cuesync.live over HTTPS. Corporate/venue networks with TLS interception commonly break this; try another network or a hotspot.
2. Install manually — download the current .dmg from the Download page, open it, and drag CueSync into Applications over the old copy. Your licence, settings and shows are stored outside the app itself (your settings live in ~/.cuesync), so a reinstall never touches them.
3. Still stuck? Contact support with the version shown in Settings → Updates.
