Venue Profiles
AllWhat it's for — A venue profile is a saved snapshot of a room's rig: which outputs to connect, what the rig can physically do, and how your cues should be routed there. Save one per room you play, and switching venues becomes a single click — the same show drives the GrandMA3-and-lasers rig at one club and the modest LED-wash rig at another, without you rebuilding a thing. CueSync can even recognize a venue by its network and offer to activate it for you.
You can keep 3 venue profiles on CueSync DJ, 25 on CueSync Theatre, and unlimited on CueSync Production. The editor and setup wizard are identical in every edition — only the number of saved profiles differs.
Creating a venue
Open Settings → Venues. You can build a profile two ways:
- New Venue starts a blank profile you fill in by hand.
- The setup wizard walks you through it in three steps: Confirm Devices (scan the network and tick the gear that's here — or Skip Discovery to build it offline), Assign Roles (label each device Main Lighting, Video Server, Effects, Audio Cues, or Custom), and Test & Save (name the venue, test each connection, and save). The wizard seeds output presets and a network fingerprint from the devices you picked.
You can also Paste or Import File a venue profile shared as JSON from another machine or operator.
What a profile holds
The editor is organized into sections:
- Info — the venue's Name and Location, and an optional Inherits from parent so one profile can build on another (a house rig everyone shares, extended per-room).
- Outputs — the connections for this venue: each has a name, protocol, host, and port, with a live health dot so you can see at a glance what's reachable. Add Output seeds a new preset; Apply Outputs pushes these presets into your live connections (behind a confirmation).
- Capabilities — what the rig can physically do, as toggle chips: moving heads, LED wash, strobe, haze, LED wall, projection, laser, fog, pyro, confetti. These drive capability-guarded routing (below).
- Intent Mappings — how CueSync's cue intents map to this rig (below).
Footer actions cover Activate / Deactivate, Save (enabled once you've made a change; it validates your outputs and name), Export (to the clipboard as JSON), and Delete.
Intent mappings
CueSync cues are written in terms of intent — "set a look," "raise intensity," "strobe burst," "black out," "go to a show cue," "set a visual," and so on — not in terms of a specific console. A venue profile's intent mappings say how each of those intents should be realized on this rig, so the same cue does the right thing in every room.
Each mapping can carry a capability guard: set it to Any rig, or tie it to one of the capabilities above (say, laser). When the venue is active, a guarded mapping only fires on a rig that has that capability — on a rig without lasers, the laser cue is quietly skipped rather than firing into nothing. Regenerate re-derives a mapping's actions from your current outputs; for fine per-action edits, use the Export / Import JSON round-trip.
Activating a venue
Activate a profile from the editor, from the venue chip in the Performance header, or from a recognition prompt. Once active:
- Your cues route through the venue's intent mappings — capability-guarded mappings first, then your plain mappings, then CueSync's built-in defaults.
- The active venue's name shows as a tappable chip in the Performance header; tap it to switch or deactivate.
- The active venue is remembered between sessions and saved into your project file, so a show re-opens in the venue you left it in.
CueSync never changes your routing on its own — activation is always something you do.
Venue recognition
When you arrive somewhere, CueSync watches the devices on the network and compares them to your saved venues' fingerprints. If it's confident it recognizes the room, it raises an unobtrusive "Recognized venue" notification with an Activate button — a suggestion only. It never switches venues behind your back, and it stays quiet if you're already on the matching venue or dismissed the suggestion for the session. (Profiles saved before fingerprinting existed are skipped until you re-save them.)
