CueSync vs CuePoints
The theatre tool CueSync is most often measured against. CuePoints plans, breaks down and records a show, then hands each console a file to import. CueSync runs the cue list at show time and fires every department's desk over the network. If your job ends at the cue list and the notes, CuePoints does more of that work for less money — and it runs on Windows and Intel Macs, where CueSync does not run at all.

Where CueSync is different
It Fires the Show, Not a File
CuePoints ends where the console begins: it exports a macro, a plugin or a CSV, and the desk runs what it imported. CueSync runs the cue list itself and fires each console over the network in its own command vocabulary, so a note from the dress rehearsal is one edit in one place, not a fresh export for every desk.
Console Sync Ships Today
Live sync with consoles is item one on CuePoints' published roadmap. CueSync's grandMA3 Session Sync already pushes the cue list to the desk as a previewed merge that never re-stores a cue you did not change, and reads it back through a console plugin. It was graded on grandMA3 onPC 2.4.2.2, not a physical desk — and we would rather say that than let you find out at the tech.
Failures You Can See
A console that drops mid-show reconnects on its own and says so on the health panel, and the Mission Control HUD shows the health of every connection beside the active and next cue. Nothing quietly stops firing.
Where CuePoints Wins
Windows and Intel Macs, where CueSync does not run. A lower price: £128 + tax, then £85 a year, against $299 a year for Theatre. Rehearsal recording from a capture card, NDI or an iPhone, reading cue numbers off old footage, overlays and NDI out — CueSync has none of those. Collaboration built into the app rather than a separate Studio subscription. More export formats, from Eos ASCII to Premiere markers. A download with no account. And a track record since 2022 with named lighting designers behind it, where CueSync shipped v1.0 in May 2026. If the job is planning, notes and paperwork rather than running the show, CuePoints is the better tool.
